What conditions may be treated with acupuncture?

Many people in the United States are familiar with the use of acupuncture as a treatment for chronic pain.  The World Health Organization has approved acupuncture as indicated treatment in the conditions listed below:

  1. Gastrointestinal Problems - digestion problems, hiccups, constipation, diarrhea

  2. Ear, Nose and Throat Disorders - sinus problems, pain following dental treatment, nasal inflammation
    Respiratory Disorders - uncomplicated asthma

  3. Neurological Problems - migraine headaches, tension headaches, chronic nerve pain, partial weakness after stroke, inner ear problems

  4. Muscular Disorder - tennis elbow, low back pain, arthritis pain, shoulder stiffness

Acupuncture is also used for GYN conditions and pelvic pain.
